My underwater magnifying glass is getting alot of use.

Rob roy 5

The diving we have done aboard the Nautilus Swell is new everyday. Everyday I feel more comfortable underwater and I see more things. My underwater magnifying glass is getting alot of use, it lets me see all the little things I have never seen. Each dive I learn something new and I see something I have never seen before. I love discovering new things and the water isn’t even that cold!

Focus in on the diverse macro life to be discovered.

_DSC8490

What a wonderful adventure we had this past week.  Seeing some of the amazing photographs taken by our guests has inspired me to take the time to slow down and focus in on the diverse macro life to be discovered.

I am so happy to have shared this special experience with the fun, enthusiastic guests from Pescadores Dive Club of Vancouver, Canada. Lots of laughs and some fantastic diving. Nobody wanted it to end. Thanks to the my fellow crew and our lovely guests, I know I won’t ever forget my time on the Swell.

I can’t say enough good things about the diving, the boat, the crew and the company

_DSC9034

Just did our last dive of the trip- Snowfall on a flood tide- spectacular wall covered in white plumose, encrusting corals and sponges in yellows and reds, then up into the kelp forest to finish amongst the abalone and crabs and a thousand other creatures.
I can’t say enough good things about the diving, the boat, the crew and the company. First class in every regard.

This trip has been such great value!

Usually if you were to plan a dive trip with travel, accomodation, food and the charter of a dive skiff the cost would grow and grow but here everything is included and its so simple and easy! The crew are amazing, and they really make the whole trip alot of fun.

We dove at a gorgeous pinnacle just protruding from the water.

sweeellly

This morning the Nautilus Swell moved across the channel to the deserter island group. We dove at a gorgeous pinnacle just protruding from the water. It was surrounded by kelp, so easy in and out. We were told that the wolf eels are pretty common here, It was NOT disappointing! I found 7 myself including jueniles. We also saw 4 octopus , hooded neudibranchs, a clown neudi pair, huge kelp greenlings, china rockfish. There were some nice large yellow sponges too. We also saw a small seal swimming on the surface next to us.

I had a fantastic time with giant pacific octopus.

_DSC2663

Diving Watts Narrows today was one of the top 5 best dives ever! I had a fantastic time with giant pacific octopus. He was fearless and playful and curious all at the same time! After Beeke found him he climbed right out of his den and grabbed my camera. He had one arm on my mask, on on my arm and the rest were wrapped around my camera. He came right off the reef and it looked like I had my own Octo scooter! He was on me for about two minutes. It was very exciting!
– Jorn, Germany

I found the giant pacific octopus that Jorn was interacting with. I was very excited to find it! I told Jorn to take a picture, I was happy that he wasn’t interested in playing with me but it was really neat to watch him interact with Jorn. At one point he was standing on all of his arms and it was very interesting to see how tall he was! It was a very exciting dive.

I’d forgotten how prolific and vibrant the life can be in these northern waters.

This is day 4 and my week aboard the Nautilus Swell is flying by. It’s been many years since I’ve done any cold water diving and I’d forgotten how prolific and vibrant the life can be in these northern waters. The Nautilus Swell is based in Port Hardy just now and the dives in this area are justly renowned for the variety, abundance and beauty of the flora and fauna. Quite amazing.

The Swell, a memorable and beautiful old tug, comfortable and capable, it works like clockwork under Captain Tim who know all the spits, tides and currents. Mate Jordan keeps the systems turning over, Divemaster Tiare makes our dives safe, effortless and productive, Chef Oliver turns out 3 innovative and delicious meals a day and Hostess Renea (also a qualified divemaster) keeps us fed and hydrated in a most gracious manner. A well run, well equipped outfit. Highly recommended by this guest.

The Nautilus Swell is a world class operation. It is comfortable, the food is great, and there is so much life to see on all of the dives! I enjoy looking at all the critters that are there to see. On one of my dives a sealion came and interacted with me and then a harbour seal as well! I really enjoyed that interaction with them. On the surface, the crew really takes care of us.

I am happy I booked two trips this year aboard the Nautilus Swell! The diving has been great.

The first dive we did today at Barry Island I really loved because there were so many amazing vivid colours, and for me the dive was really relaxing. The second dive was awesome because we saw so many wolf eels and for me that was phenomonal! So far this trip that has been the best dive. Each dive we go on has its own special qualities. Each dive brings something to the table. The crew and boat are very accomodatiing, we really don’t have to do anything, just gear up sitting down, shuffle a few steps and then jump into the water!
